Norah Sahman returned to her native Riyadh after 10 years in North America, with time spent in New York, Winnipeg and Toronto. Whilst there she launched a career in illustration, frequently using her creative style to communicate Middle Eastern cultural concepts in a western environment. In 2018 she returned to Saudi and, as the mother of two young children, became interested in children’s developmental learning and hosted bilingual Arabic and English pop-up drawing and art classes. In 2021 her illustrations of Saudi heritage costumes garnered national notoriety when they were launched by the Ministry of Culture for the Saudi Cup, the world’s most expensive-prize horse race.

Living between distinctive cultures made Norah fluent in both, a skill she applies to opportunities which have included consulting at the Heritage Commission. A common thread in her work is to introduce young Saudi women to creativity as a legitimate form of expression.
